Contemporary nomads want more than just mobility. They want independence and self-sustainability that pleases aesthetic taste. They want functionality and minimal ecological footprint. If you agree that a man is not a tree, therefore a man longs to live in new places all the time, continue reading and join us in dreaming.
In a world of minimalist trends in living, of ever rising prices of energies, building lots and real estate and thickening smog in cities, ECOCAPSULE is much more than an interesting idea.
ECOCAPSULE is one of the most ambitious eco-projects from Slovakia that is talked about far beyond our borders. It is a design eco-house with a futuristic look, compact enough to be placed almost everywhere – high in the mountains, in a forest or just outside a city. What caught our attention is the fact that this innovative smarthouse enables a life without connecting to the grid.
ECOCAPSULE is a smart micro-house, unique in utilizing solar and wind energy and filtered rain water. In this way the home is independent, since it generates its own energy. As it is a micro-house it can be placed in limited spaces. This concept will be attractive to ecologically minded people who care about sustainable lifestyle.
Eco-portal inhabitat.com put ECOCAPSULE among top 10 projects based on clean technologies. It was featured in multiple world periodicals in the past year, among them CNN, The New York Times, or Die Welt. Thanks to international media coverage the attention rate increased significantly and the project received more than 250 pre-orders. This project is one of the 4 representatives of Slovak innovations during the Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union in 2016.
The authors of the ECOCAPSULE are gifted architects, interested in experimental and ecological living with high standards. Their project started in 2009 when they entered an architectural competition in the USA to design an independent house. After its presentation, the capsule immediately got attention from the media.
Tomáš Žáček, one of the authors, says: “ECOCAPSULE is a project with potential. We used to design custom built houses and the time came to create a universal product. Our vision is to design an independent living pod, self-sustainable in various environments. We have undertaken steps to be able to create a pod in the ocean or on another planet.”
ECOCAPSULE is using dual energy system, wind and water, and a battery to store the energy. Thanks to its design and size it has broad possibilities of use, it is suitable for rescue teams, physicians, army or exterior hotels.
Recently, the company started looking to attract investments for its final prototype, pilot production and global export of the first pods from pre-orders through Slovak investment platform Crowdberry.
