Formula One was not always an attractive sport for masses. An important role played couple Niki Lauda and James Hunt who are responsible for its popularization, because of their rivalry which became interesting also for the media. Just about them is the new film “Rush”, in Slovak translation “Rivali”.
1970’s are well-known as a golden age of Formula 1. Director Ron Howard contextualized his new film Rush just to this period. The spectators will have the possibility to take a look at background of the most prestigious world car race and also to the duels of two brilliant pilots Niki Lauda and James Hunt. They were rivals not only in occupational but also in privat life.
Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Brühl) is recovering from almost fatal accident and he is coming back to the game to challange the British playboy in grabe-race for the title of a world champion. Even in spite of that he had lifelong consequences on health, he did not leave his fight for the best pilot of a monoposto. Already 48 days later he took part in race to defend his title. Many people consider this step as the most brave in the history of sport.
James Hunt, who was played by Chris Hemsworth known as performer of film Thor, was in time of his engaging a phenomenon. He had a lot of accidents and collisions, however when he finally learned to keep a vehicle on the track, he had big successes. As soon as he gained the title of a world champion in the grand season 1976 in the duel with Niki Lauda, the british TV channels concluded that it would be worth to broadcast the races in television too.
Creators of the film remained owed nothing to the reality. They put to the film also the sponsors, which supported drivers of Formula 1 in 1970’s for real , among others also TAG Heuer. It is interesting because TAG Heuer is realizing its marketing activities in Slovakia through an official distributor which is the client of media agency Multibrand, a membership firm of the group United Group.
