Renault Mégane is a successful model and whole generations consider it now typical for Slovak roads. To this day it has represented good level in design, technology and driving characteristics, but with its latest modernization it aims higher. New Mégane is visibly more modern, more premium than the competition and first impression is what sells also in the automotive world. Franck le Gall, exterior designer of the new Mégane says: ”On the highly competitive market it is vital that new Mégane should stand out right from the first glance.“ And it works, Mégane has captured our attention and our interest.
The new Mégane resembles the luxury sedan Talisman so closely a less adept observer could even think they are looking at the Talisman hatchback. Front face is robust and sculpted, chrome honeycomb pattern of the grille suits it. Front headlights are made notably longer by day running LED strips which is a characteristic now typical for Renault cars. Mégane stands out of the line with its eccentricity and postmodernism, but we do not think it attracts negative attention.
New Mégane generation brought a modernized interior, too. It might give a less luxury impression than the exterior design, but it brings rehashed ergonomics. A larger touch display and a couple of mechanical controls replace the older segmented center console as an optional extra. Everything has a reason, as they say, and when you sit behind the wheel of the new Mégane you understand the reasons very fast. Everything in the interior is excellently placed and controls are just the right size. The touch display responds exactly and sensitively and the image is clearly legible even on a sunny day. Although this large touch display is not among the standard equipment, the center console in the standard model is well-arranged and functional.
Today you can buy the new Renault Mégane in the so-called Premiere Edition, which offers petrol engine Energy TCe 100 and diesel engine dCi 110. According to the manufacturer these engines are a combination of driving pleasure and effectivity. Renault looked for the inspiration in sport engines during the development process, whilst putting emphasis on their cultivated and economic operation. Thanks to the engines, the new Mégane is really a kind of hybrid between a practical car, a sports car for a young driver and a sophisticated vehicle for a more discerning driver.
From a technical perspective, the new Renault is an advanced car with a broad range of bonus equipment. We would for sure emphasize the LED daytime running lights Edge Light, rear LED lights, dualzone automatic climate control, rain and light sensors, front, side and curtain airbags, adaptive cruise control with speed limiter, ABS, ESC with the ASR anti-skid system, understeer control CSV or hill start assist. It is a lot Renault can offer and it is necessary to pay more attention to the equipment. It is thanks to the equipment that you can not only have a nice car, but also an excellent and functional one almost without compromises. We are sure that the new Mégane will significantly rock the hatchback market in Slovakia as well and that it will bring Renault to the awareness of people who until now considered only models of German production.
